I meet Aparna by chance! Something was there from the first moment I felt at ease to open with my personal challenges. It was a little later I came to know she does it as a profession. She is a perfect fit for me. I found her to be supportive and open to listening to everything I have in my mind. She has also offered me the crucial feedback that was much needed, to move forward. She is knowledgeable and understands my situation well. She helped me in my journey of overcoming anxiety and seeking validation. Her compassionate nature, profound expertise, and unwavering commitment (once we started a session at 11 pm) have been instrumental in my personal/family growth and well-being. I have also learned some personal coping mechanisms and can take my decisions with a lot more ease now. It couldn’t make me happier than this!

Aparna has also helped my 9 years old son, on his transition time to move across the continent. She created a safe and judgment-free environment from his first session, which was truly remarkable. He always felt at ease to open up to her. Her empathy and understanding promoted a natural bond, allowing him to express his emotions and thoughts with confidence. We have noticed some positive changes in him. Her reports are thorough and insightful.

I found her quite flexible and understanding in both of our therapy sessions. She possesses an in-depth understanding of the issues surrounding anxiety, family complexities, transition, and parenting challenges. Her guidance was always insightful and tailored to my specific needs. For anyone who wants to better themselves in a range of ways or just looking for some peace with themselves, I would recommend her to them with confidence.

From the beginning, Aparna created a safe and non-judgmental space where I felt comfortable discussing my deepest fears and insecurities.

Aparna has great expertise in solving for anxiety and self-confidence issues. As we continue with our sessions, she is equipping me with practical tools to manage my anxiety and challenge negative self-perceptions. She has a gifted ability to break down my emotional outbursts and recollections of my past life into structured, logical inferences which can be actioned upon. In times when I’m incapacitated to make decisions, owing to lack of self-esteem, she has provided me with a logical framework to go about it. She doesn’t provide direct answers, what she really does is show you a path towards self – reliance and happiness.

What sets Aparna apart is her dedication and genuine investment in my well-being. While it’s only been two months since I’ve started working with her, it is still the longest I have stuck with one therapist. I am sure that as I continue working with her, she would help me greatly to move from a place of anxiety and self-doubt to one of resilience, self-assurance, and readiness to face life's challenges. I am sincerely grateful for her guidance, and I wholeheartedly recommend Aparna to anyone seeking a skilled and empathetic therapist.

What is the difference between Counsellor, Psychologist and Psychiatrist?

They are all professionals in the mental health and wellbeing space, differing by scope of practice and expertise.

A Counsellor is trained for treating Mental Health issues.  E.g Anxiety, depression, stress, Trauma, Grief , Childhood and Adolescent issues , Substance Abuse, Emotional distress, Relationship stress, Self confidence crisis etc.  Most of these arise out of adverse situations, conditioning or experiences that limit a person’s functionality and cognitive abilities. Counsellors do not prescribe medicines but work with Evidence based modalities and behaviour impact models. Counsellors can test for diagnosis and severity of specific mental health issues using specified  tests and questionnaires

Psychologist  (depending upon their speciality)  are trained to test and treat more acute Mental disorders like Bipolar disorder,  Personality disorders, Learning disabilities, ADHD, Autism, Asperger’s Syndrome, Thrichotillomania, Eating disorders, Suicide intervention etc which are primarily adverse medical conditions, present for a long time in the client.

Psychologists often provide  adjunct therapy with medical treatment and can be certified or licensed to administer and diagnose mental health disorders.

Psychatrist is a medically qualified practitioner. They are equipped to diagnose and treat all kinds of mental disorders including psychosis and mental breakdowns, arising out of adverse medical conditions and imbalance. Only they can prescribe diagnostic medical tests for severe psychotic disorders. They are the only ones who can prescribe medicines and intervention treatments.
